Supporting parents in getting their kids from the backyard…to the front yard…into the neighbourhood - where the real magic happens!

This program utilises the driver’s licence model to move kids deeper into the Passport program through 3 tiers: 

L’s- Loving it

P’s- Passionate

O’s- Organic

Order Licence To Play (Outdoors)

To begin: the program the child needs to be registered in the passports program at www.passports.natureplay.org.au where they will receive an individual passport number, which becomes their login for the passport website, where the child can access and select their missions. This number needs to be written on their L’s licence.

 

Aim of this resource:

For Educators and Group Leaders:

  • To enable educators to keep Passports at their centres, but still give the child the information to be able to go home and complete Nature Play missions
  • To create a sequential development of experience with the passport online system, through providing challenge and a small amount of structure and extrinsic reward
  • To give educators further structure for involving the passports within their services
  • To sequentially foster the love of outdoor play in children
  • To further increase conversations within the home about the essential requirement of outdoor play for kids

For Parents:

  • To sequentially develop the outdoor play related skills, competencies and knowledge of children
  • To progress building children’s independence, risk management and self-regulation capacity related to outdoor play
  • To create a sequential development of experience with the passport online system, through providing a small amount of structure and extrinsic reward.
  • To sequentially foster the love of outdoor play in children
  • To further increase conversations within the home about the essential requirement of outdoor play for kids

Further information and instructions

For Educators and Group Leaders

  1. Each child must be registered in the Passport program at www.passport.natureplay.org.au where they will receive an individual passport number. This becomes their login for the passport website where the child can access and select their missions.
  2. When registering a group of children, please make sure you write down all licence numbers.
  3. This number needs to be written on their L’s licence.
  4. It is recommended that each licence is laminated.
  5. Send the Licence home with the child (and the included Parent’s Letter), and retain the Passport at the centre/school.
  6. Missions can then be completed at home and in your centre/school.
  7. Child completes 10 missions to reach the next level of Licence.
  8. Missions completed are logged on the Passport website.
  9. Parent or Educator/Group Leader signs off on each completed mission.
  10. After 10 missions, give the child their next Licence.
  11. Once the child has reached their ‘O’ Licence the child then needs to suggest 3 missions on the Passport website.
  12. Educator/Group Leader or Parent emails info@natureplayqld.org.au for child to be added to the Nature Play QLD Ultimate Nature Player Honour Roll.

 

For Parents

  3. Child completes 10 missions to reach the next level of License.
  4. Missions completed are logged on the Passport website.
  5. Parent signs off on each completed mission.
  6. After 10 missions, give the child their next Licence (L, then P, then O).
  7. Once the child has reached their ‘O’ Licence the child then needs to suggest 3 missions on the Passport website.
  8. Parent emails info@natureplayqld.org.au for child to be added to the Nature Play QLD Ultimate Nature Player Honour Roll.
