Johanna Street Early Learning Centre is a privately-owned long day care centre, providing care for children aged 3 months to 6 years. Situated on 28 acres within the heart of Jimboomba, the centre is split into two buildings surrounded by gardens, bushland and roaming paddocks. Within the property are dams and a creek which encourage an array of local wildlife such as wild ducks, possums, cockatoos, kookaburras, Eastern long-necked turtles and the occasional kangaroo. The property is also home to cows, chickens, ducks, native stingless bees, vegetable and fruit gardens, mud pits and plenty of climbing trees.

Bush School Program
Bush School is a long-term inclusive learning process that aims to raise self-awareness and self-esteem in children. Regular sessions take place in our bush like environment located in our nature paddock, directly across from both centre buildings, where the landscape itself adds to the experience of learning. Our mission is to foster a love and compassion for the natural world through rich and meaningful outdoor experiences, investigative self-directed learning and small achievable tasks.
Bush School runs on rotating days twice a week for our Kindy and Pre-Kindy classes.
Junior and Toddler classes have the opportunity to experience Bush Kindy, a ‘lite’ version of Bush School.
An educator trained in forest school principles facilitates each Bush School session, including experiences such as:
- Exploring the natural environment, animal habitats and bodies of water.
- Tree climbing and shelter construction.
- Fire lighting and cooking over open flame.
- Visual arts using natural materials such as mud painting.
- Using tools such as mallets, peelers and binoculars.
- Education on ecological care and preservation.
