Creating the Rockhampton Regional Council edition
The Nature Play QLD Rockhampton Region Passport is a local edition specifically designed for residents in the Rockhampton Region. The Passport provides a fun and interactive way for children to explore the region's natural environment. Using their passport booklet, children are given the opportunity to venture across Rockhampton on missions ranging from Rockhampton Botanic Gardens to Frenchmans Creek and Mount Morgan Number 7 Dam. Missions have been designed to be fun, while being educational and developing children’s creative abilities. It also takes into consideration access to family-friendly facilities.
As an opportunity to increase the time children spend in unstructured play outdoors, the passport promotes health benefits, including cognitive, social and emotional development as well as building resilience and creativity. Programs such as Nature Play provide a crucial role in developing environmental awareness and stewardship in later life.
The special edition Rockhampton Region passport has been developed and funded by Rockhampton Regional Council, in partnership with Nature Play Queensland.
