Scarborough Beach Park offers the best of all worlds for nature play - with trees to climb, sand to play with and sea to swim in. The best part is Cotton Tree Forest, within the fenced play area, which is full of gnarled cottonwood trees that offer exciting climbing opportunities for nature players. This feature takes up a a large portion of the play area and makes this park truly special. There is an “old world” feel about the Cotton Tree Forest that will activate your children’s imaginations and turn them into tree folk!
Dotted along the Scarborough foreshore are beautiful Norfolk Pine trees. Take a closer look at one situated near the playground and you will see a whimsical door that has been installed by a mystery artist – locals say it’s where Gollum (a character from Lord of the Rings) resides… Who knew middle earth was right here in Scarborough?
You may also like to pack the bikes and scooters as there are kilometres of seaside tracks to follow in both directions from the playground.
