Wild Mountains Teachers Info Night - Plastic Free July + Earth Keepers

Come along to an information evening to find out all about Wild Mountains and our environmental education programs for school-age children, in particular, the evening will focus on Plastic Free July and Earthkeepers.

Wild Mountains is an independent, community focussed organisation providing leadership in environmental education and conservation for over 20 years. We run a variety of programs out of our environmental education centre situated on a 76 hectare nature reserve, adjacent to the Border Ranges National Park. We have vision of a world where people lead fulfilling lives while sharing the earth’s resources with all of the life forms on this planet and without degrading our life support systems. We believe the best way to achieve that is through education.

For Plastic Free July we are visiting schools and/or provide resources for kids to learn all about the impacts of single-use plastic. We have developed a 'passport' of steps and challenges for both children and adults to use to guide the actions they take. Last year we successfully worked with 5 schools and this year we would love to get this into more schools.

The Earthkeepers program is an internationally recognised 3-day program we host for 10-12 year olds. This program is focused on developing the students' understanding and respect for key concepts and processes of the natural world while equipping them with tools to act on these learning through lifestyle changes. Every component can be related to our national curriculum. Earthkeepers is centered on learning through experience and discovery.

From this evening you have the opportunity to walk away with a Plastic Free July kit for your classroom, opportunity to meet like-minded supportive teachers, collect Nature Play resources and develop a greater understanding of how to deliver aspects of Earth Education that really engages students curiosity.

Looking forward to meeting you and discussing how we can get these programs into your school.

Light supper, tea, and coffee to be served with support from Loop Growers.
