Art's Sake

Art’s Sake was started by visual artist, Sandy Vella when she developed and delivered visual art programs for community wellbeing and green arts.  Sandy designed other programs for environmental change, sustainable lifestyles and creative solutions. They were created to connect people with their natural environment 'ecosystem', creativity, behaviour and impact on earth through the creative process.

BeachCare is the Gold Coast's dune restoration program facilitated by the Griffith Centre for Coastal Management in partnership with the City of Gold Coast.  The program educates the local community and provides opportunities to become involved in caring for their local coastal environment, learning about coastal processes and management techniques, and to become stewards of the natural environment. Activities such as planting native dune species, removing invasive weeds and collecting and auditing beach litter are completed by volunteers of all ages.

Blue Peter - The Sea School

Blue Peter conducts marine adventure programs in Moreton Bay and other areas in Queensland. Through the use of voyages of discovery, they engage with expeditionary and adventure learning processes. Activities include sailing, rowing, paddling, snorkelling, bushwalking and island camping. Blue Peter asserts that unstructured play, and having fun through discovery in nature, is essential to the learning process.

Bush Knowing Forest School

We believe that being outside and engaging with nature has wide ranging benefits for children and adults of all ages.

Camp Hill OSHC

Camp Hill Outside School Hours Care fosters learning through observationally derived and self-directed play. They aim to enrich the children’s lives by introducing to them life skills, knowledge and experiences that go beyond their school learning. Camp Hill OSHC aims to impart a strong sense of self assessed boundaries and foster appropriate emotional behaviours in the children we work with. Machans Beach OSHC

The beliefs, program and practices of Machans Beach OSHC revolve around free play, nature play, loose parts play, development of life skills, learning through play based activities and creativity. The holistic development of children is extremely important and is our focus. We strongly promote kindness and compassion.

The team at The Outsiders are committed to championing authentic, free play experiences for children. By day, The Outsiders all practice what they preach as playworkers at Camp Hill Outside School Hours Care, a service known for its cutting edge application of genuine free play and playwork principles into the daily practice. By appointment, The Outsiders offer information and practical stories that delve deeper into the realms of play, play theory and the many developmental benefits that surround it. The Wild Mountains Trust is an independent, community focused, non-profit organisation providing leadership in environmental education and conservation, we are experienced in leading Earthkeepers and Shapers of Tommorrow programs, alongside our family friendly volunteer program that get kids and families out into nature with purpose for community. At the same time Wild Mountains reinforces its educational programs with demonstrating renewable power generation, landcare and sustainable building practices.  Located In subtropical and eucalypt forests participants will have the opportunity to discover an amazing natural world. Wether its exploring nature through leaf slides, wind dancers or  a symphony of the forest, be inspired and reconnect with nature.

Friends of Federation Walk

Federation Walk Coastal Reserve is made up of 93 hectares of coastal dunes – a unique fusion of native vegetation, dunes, open space and ocean views. A network of established paths and tracks throughout this beautiful reserve allow for hiking, jogging, cycling, birdwatching or simply sitting under the trees and listening to the birds singing accompanied by the sounds of the ocean. Friends of Federation Walk facilitate monthly community plantings to connect the community while improving the biological diversity of the reserve.

Gold Coast Waterwatch

Gold Coast Waterwatch is a community service initiated and supported by the City of Gold Coast (CoGC) that engages with early learning centres, primary schools, high schools, community groups and community events to educate participants on the importance of healthy waterways and catchments.

As well as working to improve awareness and education, Gold Coast Waterwatch also assists in collecting data on the health of local waterways.

Grow Forest School

Grow Forest School is a project of sustainability, permaculture and nature education.

Set on 25 acres of native forest, bushland and farmland in the Noosa Valley, in collaboration with local indigenous and non indigenous community and the Grow Forest School, it offers hands on permaculture and nature play workshops and activities for children aged 4-12.

Jump Up Outdoors

Jump Up Outdoors allows children to press pause on their busy, structured lives and step out into the natural world for adventure and fun. They provide a unique opportunity for 'city kids' to develop a play space that is truly their own. Each day is guaranteed to be different from the last and even the most indoorsy child can't help but have a blast. Jump Up Outdoors programs have been developed by a paediatric occupational therapist with over 20 years experience.

Little Bee & Me

Little Bee & Me provides a joyful, and imaginative green-space called Little Bee's Secret Garden, which is aimed at increasing awareness and understanding of Australia's native bees. Little Bee's Secret Garden is specifically a native bee demonstration garden that houses two colonies of native stingless bees (stingless and non-allergenic) as well as attracting solitary bees of all varieties. The garden is a beautiful child-friendly sensory space, designed for little people to pick flowers and tomatoes, smell herbs, and watch native stingless bees at work. The Secret Garden is open to the public but we also offer customisable workshops and resources for children and adults

Mackay Regional Botanic Gardens

Mackay Regional Botanic Gardens showcases the flora of the Central Queensland Coast Bioregion. The Gardens, just 12 years old, have created many habitats around a natural lagoon. Many creatures and birdlife can be seen when exploring the 51hectare site. A wonderful place to explore, exercise, wonder and play with nature.

Mt Barney Lodge, Country Retreat

Primal Influence

Primal Influence is a Health and Fitness Coaching business based on the Sunshine Coast. Our Primal Kids Classes (ages 3 to 12 years) are set up outdoors at parks and beaches and are designed to be suitable for children at almost any level of physical ability. The minimally structured approach allows children to engage in the variety of activities and movements without strictness around posture and performance, allowing them to naturally develop strength, fitness, coordination, balance, agility, mobility and confidence. Our Earth, Oceans, and You

'Our Earth , Oceans, and You' provides in-school and off-campus multimedia presentations (live music/videos/slideshow) about the wonders of nature. Covering two of the Australian curriculum's cross-curriculum priorities, ‘Sustainability’ and ‘Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Histories and Cultures’, presentations are suitable for primary and secondary students. Yumba Bimbi Support Service

Yumba Bimbi Support Services has been helping enhance the lives of people with disabilities across rural and remote communities of the Central Highlands, Bowen Basin and Western Queensland regions for 20 years. 

Yumba Bimbi is thrilled to initiate The Bush Discovery Project! The Project aims to offer all children in the community with the opportunity to be amongst nature. The diverse range of micro ecosystems (rainforest, open landscape and bush) in the Botanic Gardens in Emerald, Central QLD presents itself as an ideal environment to explore. Starting Strong

Starting strong is an all weather all outdoors early learning program that is run by qualified early childhood educators. We have programs for new parents  and bubs , toddlers, preschoolers and school aged kids.

Our ‘Outdoor classes’ follow a fun theme based program incorporating structured learning balanced with the spontaneity of learning in nature. They include a group time, fine motor and sensory play, crafts and group games. These classes are held at paradise point parklands under the beautiful gum trees.

Nature Play Providers supply activities and resources within Nature Play QLD’s definition of what nature play is, as per our mission:

Nature Play QLD's mission is to increase the time Queensland kids spend in unstructured play outdoors and in nature. It is founded on the understanding that unstructured play outdoors – nature play – is fundamental to a full and healthy childhood. Nature play promotes health benefits, including cognitive, social and emotional development, and it builds resilience and creativity as well. Experiences in nature as a child can also lead to environmental awareness and stewardship later in life.

We appreciate that some activities will have an inherent structure to them, but that they will ultimately support direct open-ended play or working towards open-ended play, as well as connect children with nature and or their local area.
